Chapter Nineteen

Thirty minutes later, Reno, Rhett, and Toby pulled over to the side of the road as thirty to forty vehicles roared past, lights flashing and sirens wailing. Once the last vehicle passed, they took off toward town again.

“That was quite a parade, wasn’t it?” Rhett said. “Our police chief is going to have his hands full, I’ll bet.”

“If anyone can handle it, it will be Chance,” Reno answered. “That’s who I’d bet on. Now, Toby, how are we going to get any answers from our tough old bird here?”

“Why don’t you ask her direct? She’s been awake now for the last fifteen minutes. It’s a good thing we tied her up like we did. She’s been testing the ropes and the doors some.”

“Okay then. Well, since Allah betrayed you and your men, how about you tell us, Belha Rahmin, what Kahib has planned?” Reno asked her.

“Allah did not betray us! My colleagues are in heaven getting their rewards even as we speak. I will tell you nothing of Kahib’s plans to carry out Allah’s revenge no matter what you do to me. I have rights now that I’m in America. You unbelievers are so stupid.”

“You’re like all the others that sneak into our country and think you should get all the rights of a US citizen, it’s BS!” Toby said sternly. “But guess what, Belha Rahmin, we’re not turning you over to any law here in the good old USA. We have a private jet that’s going to take you to Egypt. Word is, they have a reward out for you.”

For the first time she showed some fear as she yelled back at Toby. “You cannot do that! They blame me for what some of my men did to their police officers. It would mean torment and torture for me!”

Reno jumped in. “You think we care one bit on what would happen to you? Your pal Kahib Rashee has my daughter some damn place going through who knows what kind of hell, so this I promise you. If Kahib kills her, not only will you be taken to Egypt, I will tell them I will pay five millions dollars a year to torment and keep you alive. I’ll bet that for that kind of money, they’ll be able to give you special treatment for at least five, maybe ten, years.”

Belha sat quiet for a few minutes then calmly in her normal, cold voice said, “I never met unbelievers who are as ruthless as we are. You must just shoot me now so I may die an honorable death.”

“Not a chance, lady!” Rhett said. “You old witch are not worth the price of a bullet!”

“That is what I thought your answer would be. I cannot go to Egypt. If you promise to turn me over to your FBI, I will tell you what you want to know.”

“Not those jerks at the FBI,” Reno said. “No way! We’ll turn you over to ICE, and just in case you think you can
